Changes to the e-toll system from 1 May 2026
The amendments concern the validity period of route tickets, the transport of certain agricultural products and livestock, and they provide a possibility for exemption from fines imposed for incorrectly declared toll and environmental categories for road use.

As of 1 January 2026, Act LXVII of 2013 on Distance-Based Tolls Payable for the Use of Motorways, Expressways and Main Roads will be amended, as a result of which recreational vehicles with a maximum authorised mass of over 3.5 tonnes will be able to use the toll road network in Hungary under the user charge system from that date.
Toll charge to increase in two stages from 2026
The toll charge payable in proportion to the distance travelled for the road use by vehicles with a maximum authorised total mass of over 3.5 tonnes will increase in two stages, from 1 January and 1 March next year, by an overall increase less than previously announced.
