Changes to the e-toll system in 2026

Pursuant to Decree 34/2025 (XI. 30.) ÉKM of the Minister of Construction and Transport published in the Hungarian Official Journal No. 143, the following changes will be introduced in the e-toll system in 2026.

According to the legislative amendment, the basic rate of the infrastructure charge will change as of 1 January 2026, and the toll road network will be extended as of 1 July 2026, in accordance with Decree 25/2013 (V. 31.) NFM of the Minister of National Development on toll charges and toll roads.

As of 1 January 2026, distance-based tolls payable are available on our website under Toll Rates.

Gov. Decree No. 375/2025 (XI. 30.) was also published in the Hungarian Official Journal No. 143, which increasesthe amount of the fine to be imposed for offences under Section 14(a), (b) and (c) of the ED Act for vehicle categories J2, J3, J4 and J5 in the case of unauthorized road use in the case of detection in the first time band.

The Government Decree will also amend Gov. Decree 156/2009 (VII. 29.) on the amount of fines to be levied in case of the breach of certain provisions related to freight transport, passenger transport and public road transport, and the official tasks related to the levying of fines., and Gov. Decree 410/2007 (XII. 29.) on Traffic Offences Subject to an Administrative Fine, the Amount of Fines that May be Imposed for Offences, the Rules Governing the Use of Such Amounts and the Conditions of Participating in Control Activities.
