Negotiations are continuing on the integration into the e-toll system of buses with a maximum authorised total mass of over 3.5 tons. There is ongoing dialogue between the ministry responsible for decisions on toll policies, advocacy organisations and our company, in which the parties are making clarifications to the conditions for the integration of buses over 3.5 t to the e-toll system.
Therefore, Act LXVII of 2013 on distance-based tolls payable for the use of motorways, expressways and main roads (‘Toll Act’), Decree No 25/2013 (V. 31.) NFM of the Minister of National Development on the amount of the toll and toll roads (‘Road Toll Decree’) and Decree No 45/2020 (XI. 28.) ITM of the Minister for Innovation and Technology on motorways, expressways and main roads subject to toll payment and the tolls payable (‘Toll Decree’) have been amended by Government Decree No 13/2024 (1.30).
On the basis of the above, from 1 February 2024, road users will continue to pay for road use in the case of buses over 3.5 t under the user charge system by purchasing an e-vignette, rather than in proportion to the distance travelled. For the time being, operators of buses over 3.5 t, registered in the HU-GO electronic toll system, are requested to refrain from using the HU-GO e-toll system for toll payment and from using the on-board units they have purchased.
In the e-vignette system, national monthly and weekly (10-day) authorizations for buses over 3.5 t will also be available from 1 February 2024, on condition that, under the amended Toll Decree, these authorizations will expire as at 31 March 2024 at 24:00, even if they were valid beyond that date under the provisions in force at the time of purchase.
Monthly and weekly (10-day) e-vignettes purchased before 31 January 2024 for the B2 vehicle category will, however, remain valid after the last day of January, and can be used according to the validity period of each type of vignette.
